Help For Children Who Are Depressed Are you the parent of a child who is often depressed? Are you a child who often feels down in the dumps and depressed? This article offers advice for both parents, other family members, and children about how to deal with, reduce and even eradicate this depression. I remember from my own childhood having many periods when I was very unhappy and sad. I was the type of person who would let aspects of my life get on top of me which would at times affect my sleep patterns. I found growing up through childhood, into a teenager, and ultimately into my adulthood as one big choir and struggle. I was forever comparing my own life to that of my brother, sister, and friends. Their lives seemed so much easier than mine was and this made me feel quite jealous of them. Looking back one of my faults was that I was not willing to discuss my worries and fears with my parents and basically kept them bottled up inside of me. This meant of course that I had to ...

Manic Depression The Worst Type Of Depression Manic depression or Bipolar depression is actually considered one of the worst types of depression that people usually suffer from. Characterized by sudden and extreme changes in their mood, Manic depression is said to be called as such because manic = mania refers to the ‘ups’ while depression refers to the ‘downs’. The so-called ‘manic’ or ‘ups’ in Manic depression is described as to be the times when a person suffering from Manic depression may experience overly high periods, consisting of heightened energy, a sudden outburst of euphoric mood, extreme irritabilit...

Happiness And Health Are The Two Most Important Things In Life The world is becoming obsessed with money and all things material. From the size of your house, the type of car and even where you travel on your holidays, some people are trying to go one better do their friends and family. For me, these people are quite sad. I have a friend who is similar to the people above, he is always thinking of money, always talking about money. How to earn it, how to spend it etc. He is part of a lottery syndicate, there are about fifty people in this syndicate. When he goes out on a Saturday evening, he always takes with him a piece of paper with the numbers on it and a little pen. At around nine o’clock he phones his girlfriend and she tells him what the numbers are for that particular night. He then spends around twenty minutes checking the numbers and then re-checking to see if he has any winning lines. He then returns from the toilet area and is asked by other members of the group about ho...

knowing your emotions

Knowing Your Emotions The sad clown attracts us and evokes a feeling of sadness and compassion. Have you ever noticed that the sadness and compassion really feel like it is for you? Often, we live our suppressed emotional experiences through some other external situation, mainly entertainment. Once we’re in a safe environment, it’s okay to let it out. Except, you’ve buried so many emotions, you’re not sure what is left unexpressed. It can derail you at any time, upsetting your equilibrium, setting the waterworks at the drop of a hat, and blazing the rage with a tiny spark  Consider a new way of being in this world; a way that allows the expression and understanding of your emotions. Imagine being present for others who are enmeshed in difficult times, barely coping to keep their emotions in check. What healing can occur! What strength will be gained! What friendship and loyalty will be developed! What team support will be developed! What courage will be found! If we’re hu...

Tips To Increase Self Esteem

Tips To Increase Self Esteem I have had many confidence issues in my life, all of which I have either dealt with or overcome. I have written about some of these issues below. 1. The Bald Patch on my head  2. My height 3. My weight 4. The stutter of my speech 5. My lack of belief in myself 6. My career THE BALD PATCH ON MY HEAD Even though to some people it may seem trivial, I was born with a bald patch the size of a ten pence piece. As I went through childhood and especially the teenage years, I became more and more self-conscious and paranoid about it. It was especially noticeable when it rained or when I went swimming as my hair would become wet. People at school would ridicule me and I was forever trying to hide and cover the bald patch even though most people knew about it. It hurt when people laughed at me and eventually, I stopped going swimming altogether. MY HEIGHT Out of all of my close male family and friends, I am the shortest at 5ft 4. Thi...
